Default My 2000 XKR Convertible at Melbourne GP

Just thought I'd share some exciting news guys and gals.

The XKR is going in the Jag Club of Victoria display at the Melbourne F1 Grand Prix next week.

Will post some pics when I can

Well done to Jag Club of Victoria. That's probably the only way to get parked anywhere near.

Yep Graham

When they asked who wanted to be part of it , I sat there pondering until they said

"And you get 2 , free, 4 day passes"

Up went both hands

Should I post pics here or in the pics bit you think?

Will do them on here then

Spent some time down in the man cave tonight after coming home from a dinner out with the fam of fantastic local Vietnamese.
Any ways , did a spot of front spoiler ,paint chip touch ups.
Ralphie ( that's it's name after his late owner) is not a Garage King.
He gets used daily and cops a bit of stone flicking now and then
I have another question for you officianados .
If I have time I'd like to whip off the wheels and paint the hubs and calipers because they look a bit tatty and have some surface rust visible when you look through the wheel. He sat around for a bit not used while the PO , Ralph was unwell.
So the 2 questions are ;
1. Is there any quirky think I need to be aware of re suspension or something when I lift just one corner to take a wheel off?
2. What color for the calipers and hubs. I have some heat proof satin black ( my thoughts , so they disappear in there)or I also have Brake Caliper grey/silver

I've never had any issues from lifting just one corner to take off a wheel BUT I've always had Coupes. The convertible may be more prone to flexing. Owners of Convertibles will no doubt have opinions and advice.

For work on the brakes or suspension, I prefer to lift either front or rear to get to both sides more easily. Here's the JTIS procedure:

As for the brake calipers and hubs, the 'King of Caliper Painting' a.k.a. Admin Jim will surely be along to encourage and advise. I recall him using the word 'disgrace' the last time he saw mine.

I would use the silver paint, if you can see through the wheels. I am a caliper *****, so my calipers are bright red. I'm so ashamed. You do notice them through the wires though. Can't wait for the pics......Be cool.....Mike

Thanks Jim

I'd say more Satin

Can get a close up if you like

The front bumper has had a respray in a not very good match before my ownership and so you would think they probs did the vert bars at the same time

Thanks Peter. Maybe if you post some photos from the GP Ball you could do a close up.

Was in a hurry to get going

The big event has come and gone and what a hoot.

Have hopefully attached some better pics

I managed to slip away from work a bit earlier on Friday arvo and got to watch the last half hour of F1 practice ( Vid 1 ) and then a V8 Supercar race ( Vid 2 )

Took a cousin ( visiting from UK) to watch the historics on Sat morning and then we spent the whole day there yesterday. ( See the other vids)

Our club arranged for 2 x fee 4 day Gen admission passes as part of having the cars there

Enjoy guys and gals

Some vids might be too big so will try another way if so

Graham

You might as well speak Greek to me.

What is this link thing you speak of ?

We compressed them to be less than 5MB yesterday but they were MP4 and our site doesn't like them.

They aren't on youtube or facebook yet.

I'm working on that though
