I spent 2 days washing and waxing my S-Type and XK8 and boy do they look good. However, I managed to lose the “J” from the rear of my 99 XK8 and now we have an “aguar” and the wife is not pleased. It came off when I was waxing and I put it in my back pocket and lost it between the driveway and the condo. Does anyone have a “J” sitting around, maybe on a salvage car?

I am trying to find a XK8 car in my home town JOPLIN, MO that was badly damaged in the recent tornado that come thru here. I will see about the "J" if and when i find it because I would like to get some other things from it. But, not sure if those cars are going to be shipped out or local. Going to the area that people said it was in Saturday and will shoot back at you if I find anything.

 

Well , searched all over but did not find the XK8! I will ask around a little more but I know if it was my car I would get it out of there real quick. I will check local salvage yards just in case but I know price goes up when they get a hold of them.

 

I have a few laying around you can for free but you will have to pay for the postage around $6 I would imagine, you could use this as a last resort maybe?

 

If I owned an XK , I would strip off the Jaguar badge and replace it with a chrome framed one .

I would agree to a certain degree, lose the lettering completely and fit the later chrome plinth and wire up the release button, or you could colour code the plinth, as a tip if you go this route, still buy the chrome item and not the primed. This is because the primed item don't come with the number plate lights but the chrome do, even though they are both the same price. You then have to buy the lights seperate costing you a further $30

I too have lost my J ala Gus. I would be more than happy to send you $ for a J from your collection should you have an additional. Somehow Aguar just doesn't have the same panache as Jaguar. If you can oblige, just let me know how I can get you the $.

I have the complete 'jaguar' off the left rear of my '00 XK8. The local paint shop removed it when I had an annoying blem in the paint fixed, and while I was pondering how best to re-attach it, I watched two different people walking around the car trying to figure out what it was! I kind of liked that, and decided to leave her in the stealth mode permanently. Anyone who wants it should message me. Gratis, and it should go in a regular mail envelope.
