My car was rear ended today ugh!
Well today wasn't a good day. I was stopped four cars back from a red light an when the light turned green the 91 Honda Accord behind me decided to floor it before anyone else moved! End result: big scrape on rear bumper, parking sensors broken and looks like the hit one of the exhausts as it is now pointing in a different direction. To make matters worse, or more complicated, the other driver has an insurance company i have never heard of...should be a fun couple of days!

No pics yet...was raining all afternoon afterwards. Of course bright and sunny and dry when I was hit. Already notice a backup sensor has fallen into the bumper and the circular trim piece fell out somewhere. And the bumper was cracked through as well. Waiting for call from state farm adjuster (thank goodness the adjuster for my area likes me lol)

Last year a 17 year old blew a red light and got T-boned by a Cadillac, she spun around and touch my front bumper. $1200.00 repaint damage. Her insurance company, that I never heard of, wanted to give me $410.00. My insurance company paid in full, less deductible. Then paid my deductible three months later, after they got it out of her company. So you'll probably receive that later after the settlement.

To answer Translator's question, several states in the US are "no-fault" insurance states. That means that even if you're not responsible for the accident, your own insurance company pays for your car repairs and the at-fault driver's insurance pays for theirs. Your insurance company can't raise your rates, even though you filed a claim, because you weren't at-fault. The other driver's insurance can raise his rates.

Sorry about your accident. Last year I rebuilt my car after front and rear damage. The hardest part of the rebuild was actually getting the replacement bumpers[fenders]. The most difficult part to locate was the inner bumper supports, that run underneath the outer bumper covers. I live in the UK so one would assume no problem to source these parts not so. Long story short, Jaguar no longer stock these parts but have them made to order in France can you believe, in batches. Result, 3 month wait from Jaguar and a price tag of £520 pounds, Dollars $830 just for the front end.Phew!!.
You can guess I took a trip to my local scrap yard[ junk yard] cost £200.
Is it any wonder why are cars cost so much to money to repair. Good luck with the rebuild. dave.

They are lighter, stronger and let more air through to the rads
Then again I also make my own bumpers!!

How interesting. Did you use GRP or use the original plastic type material. Because of the supply problems as you have said my son in law has started making them as well. As any one particularly from hear in damp, salty Europe who has had to replace or just remove one of these inner beams must know they seldom come off without a fight, usually the brass captive inserts come adrift. What should be a simple process turning in to a nightmare.
By the way the tantalizing glimpse of what looks like a real beauty of an XK looks amazing. Have a look at my garage profile to see what the European climate does to an XK. All for the want of some underseal. What I can see of your car looks amazing. Dave

Dont worry I know all about English weather I am based near Norwich Norfolk. As you can see from the pic I make my beams from aluminium, the rear I dont have any problems with as I usually have a stock, I must admit I just sold my last one to a guy in South Korea.
With the new type of rear bumpers I do they dont require a beam, so when I do conversions I have spares.
