my first car---used xk8

Nice. You sir deserve credit for this awesomeness.
It most definitely has for me and I'm only 29. It's hard to believe HS ended 11 years ago, I still have nightmares about it lol. Thankfully, no kids and NFW I want to deal with that. It's not in my personality is all. A DB9 is more attune to me.
I honed my skills on a Triumph GT6 MK3 in high school and a 87 Corvette Convertible in college. My dad worked on all sorts of exotics and I grew up with much more complicated stuff to work on than run of the mill Jaguars. I mean that as a complement too, they're not stupid crazy like the Germans who overengineer stuff to where it's difficult to work on physically, and less reliable. I feel with my Audi experiences with 2 A4s and an A8L that they went absurd with some things and led to me honestly saying that English electrics are more reliable than Volkswagen's electrics. I have burns on my right arm to prove how bad old English electrics are. I have PTSD from the how bad the A8s were.
We're just having fun now . The thread is a conversation starter and not on topic but still fun.
My brother sold his Vanquish and drives a Prius. He has 4 kids though. That's a lot of kids nowadays.
+1 for above advice. Either buy a "cheap" xk8 and drive it till it falls to bits or hang on for the car of your dreams and get an XKR. Not worth the hassle of upgrading an XK8. It is not just the engine that is different.
I waited over 60 years for the car of my dreams, four or five of yours will pass in a flash. Believe me it will come around very quickly.
So buy a cheap run around to practice your mechanical skills. Then eventually get the car of your dreams, either that or get married have kids. Put on a few pounds. Retire then get the car you really want. Even though they will be VERY expensive by then.

Ha-ha; that's about right! When I was about that age (fifty-some years ago), I was disgusted with my dental hygenist's sad story. She and her husband met through an Aston Martin owners' club. They fell in love, got married, sold both their Astons, and bought a Buick to share! What price love?
Funny how we're having fun in this ancient thread and the originator is long gone!
