Default Mysterious engine wires

After i had bought my 2003 XK Convertible and happily drove it home, quite a few things still needed to be done.. Among them a percistent ABS/Brakefluid level fault and a P1637 code to hunt down.. while messing with the plug to the ABS unit, i noticed a "stray" wiring harness dangling next to the engine on the left side. When i picked it up i could see that it was cut straight off and left to its destiny.. a set of 3 wires and one set of two braided wires... What system would use a braided wire? Also a plug was dangling next to theese.. loocked exctly as the plug that sits on the VVT.

Anyone that recognices any of theese, for me stray wires/cables? The car was doing great on the way home after i had bought it.. (450km trip) but ofcourse it all went **** up after a week..

/On a sidenote; watch out for old "electrical grease compounds", when it gets really old it seems to break down to some sort of oily fluid... i had this in quite a few plugs.

/E

Did someone replace the headlights with a different type and rewire them?
