Default NAPA vs ZF tranny filter for 5HP24. Different gasket?

Have a look at these pics and notice the filter gasket pictured in NAPAs photo does not match the one from ZF. Both filter kits are for the 5HP24 transmission, but the NAPA gasket [on the right] is not the same as that of the transmission manufacturer, ZF. Call it a hunch, but I suspect ZF is the correct part.

Unless someone can tell me otherwise, I will be returning the NAPA kit I just bought. FYI, this is not the first time NAPA has given me the right filter with the wrong gasket.

The picture on the left (with the green gasket) is the correct one. The 5HP24 is a 22 bolt pan. I too have had crazy stuff from NAPA.

I've had it the other way around on some Chrysler trans kits from NAPA. Correct gasket, wrong filter.

ZF is very good about publishing parts lists and repair manuals for its products, or bad about controlling it. Just google the trans number and you'll find lots of documentation.

Default Caution with ZF Parts Lists from the Web

BTW - I should have mentioned this in my last post about googling ZF documentation, although the parts list has some useful illustrations, the part numbers change often and outdated pdfs stay online.

If you're reposting the parts list pdf, be aware these lists are updated often, it seems. Not a big deal as you will get the corrected numbers when ordering parts.

I recently posted some part numbers for the 6HP26 on another string and all three of those numbers had changed from one pdf version I found online. The numbers I posted are the latest for the 6 speed as they came from an invoice from my last purchase in February.

Hope this helps,
