I don't understand the desire to bother with the nav system since input is restricted to a joystick! The data is hilariously out of date 12 years later. Aren't there simple solutions to simply attach a smartphone over it?
Now if it were tied to fwd and rear facing cameras and could display engine info in real time, all for under $900.00 , that would be worth discussing.
do you have that link for the nav disk. Also, do you have the link to the system erase disk? My nav is not talking and I read that by using the wipe disk it will fix it. I assume it is a reset to remove all former settings.
Do you still have that download link available. I tried it and it says that it is not available. I have a 2006 XKR and am trying to make a backup. I also have issues with the voice which I see that a wipe disk will fix.
I would really like to find a solution to the map update. Was wondering if any have replaced the head unit for a later model like the s-type denso.

Try Matt's link again...it seems to be working.
I hope someone has a copy of the wipe disk, but as far as I know, you may need to visit a dealer to get access to one.
The Denso navigation unit on the S-type is not plug and play with the screen in the XK and would not be straightforward to adapt because the communication between the screen and the DVD unit is not compatible.
Many thanks for your youtube videos. Since purchasing My 2006 XKR Victory Edition your videos have been very helpful. I have changed plugs, addressed rattle in drivers door, removed seats center console and redyed carpets. Also, I have just re-padded center arm rest.
I am looking at adding a sat radio, replacing bushings, adjusting windows, etc etc.

The car is great, just needs a little tlc.
Thanks for the videos and advise.
Jim
Actually most of the videos are from another member (Reverand Sam), but the armrest padding idea was originally mine.
Send me a PM with your email address and I will send you a link to my Onedrive for the system disc. Not sure if its the wipe disc you are after. I was sent a copy of the system disc that is supposed to wake up the dvd drive by another user on this forum. Didn't seem to do much for my nav but hoping it helps you out. Came to me burned on a CD but pretty sure its supposed to be burned on a DL DVD. Also, this site has a tech bulletin on how to use the disc.
Hi, i tried the Mortimerjd wipe disk with no success, but is not clear to me if was correctly burned or my dvd is faulty.
Can you keep us updated if it works or not in your issue?
Thanks
On the padded armrest I found a piece of thin high density foam at Michaels. It is in the crafting section were the felt is. It has a sticky backing on it. I found that the wrinkles were not actually in the leather but in the old foam and backing in the lining of the leather.
By removing this foam and plastic and replacing it with the foam from Michaels my arm rest is smooth again.
What kind of burner and software did you use? I have tried dvd +r, -r. I have used nero, imgburn, Microsoft, and clone ce. None are recognized by my nav system. I have used the download software and have tried just to clone my disk. My burner only goes down to 4x and I have heard that 1x is best. I have burned about 15 disks but no backup disk yet.
Try burning the system disc image to a CD rather than a DVD; the car's reader may be happier with that.
Apologies if I'm teaching grandma to suck eggs, but make sure that you burn as an image (I'm assuming that the file you have has a .iso extension)
Different system and vehicle, but I managed to update the system in our X5 from a CD I made. Had little luck with burning a nav data disk, sadly. The older readers are more fussy about the media.
HTH,
Hi H20boy
Even though the disc you sent did not work and I was able to purchase an original updated disc which converted the leaper over to the analogue clock which worked just fine.
However last week the hands on the clock just disappeared ! everything else is O.K even the 12 markers (i.e. instead of the numbers) are displayed but no hands.
Is my software corrupted? Can you suggest any way I can fix this. Thanks Cottonwood.
Hello from late 2018... all links to the 2003 nav disc ISO appear to be broken.
Does anyone know of a working link or care to sell a copy of the disc? Thank you in advance!

Might you have product and other codes from DVD from 2003? Cause as far as I know the latest X100 (1996-2002) compatible DVD was released on 2002.
But link to couple of DVD images proved to work on 2002 USA XKR here:
