Default Need help with a part; headlight reflector

Gents, salutations...its been awhile! So, I got a little aggressive with my internal headlamp cleaning on my xk8 and managed to rub off some chrome coating on my high beam reflector (passenger side). It's crazy-high prices on used lamps on ebay and car-part.com (cheapest was $150) when I just need a stinking reflector from the inside. What I'm asking is, does anyone have a 'parts' lamp from '97-'06 (it doesn't matter which side, I'm pretty sure) and would you be willing to remove the reflector and donate it to my cause? It's secured with just two screws, btw. If so, please send me a text and I'll provide you my fedex acct no., or prepare a shipping label for you, and all you have to do is drop it off.

Matt - couldn't you just get some Duplicolor Chrome paint and respray the reflector??

I thought about that. Surely a paint job wouldn't be as reflective? I may try it anyway for the price of a can of paint while waiting for this request to circulate.

yeah you're probably right on the reflective properties of the paint. Is it possible to have a glass/mirror place replate the surface?? Then again may be cost prohibitive. Just thinking on the fly

If you find a source, let us know. I gave up and covered the reflector with foil and high heat lacquer. Not great but much better than where I started.

The reflector on mine has two screws and two rivets. The rivets are located at 90 degrees away from the screws. That meant I had to remove the metal frame it was mounted in to get it out of the lamp, which was very fiddly.

In the end I managed to locate a guy in Germany who said he could resilver the reflectors for €35 each. Others were looking for twice as much and with turn around times of “when we can get to it”. I’ll get him to do it when the other reflector needs doing.
