Default Need Seat Module

My drivers side seat module gave up months ago but it is set perfectly for me so I have procrastinated replacing it.
What are the best places to purchase a new or reconditioned replacement?
Thanks for any suggestions.

Have you opened it up to check for broken tracks on the circuit board?

They are a horrendous cost new so repair/recondition is the preferred option with used replacement coming second.

Not yet. I guess that would be the place to start.
Thanks

Default seat module

There is possibly a issue with version numbers if you go to replace this module. I saw a bulletin that says the LJA2160Af has been superceded and something about code 4. I believe they changed in 98 and the left and right are no longer interchangeable. There were 2 relays not being used in the 1997 version on the passengers side.
Anyone know for sure which modules will work on a 97 pass side?

I just purchased one on EBAY $250. Tried to fix broken tracks, but I gave up. Time vs Money!

My thoughts on the subject are unencumbered with fact or experience but I believe that driver/passenger modules are the same. The difference being that the driver module communicates over the CANetwork because of the seat memory while the passenger module does not.

That MAY mean that a passenger module could be swapped with one with a different VCAT number or even a different part number.

I have swapped D/P modules and they are plug-n-play. I replaced one on a previous car with a correct part number and VCAT extension and it was plug-n-play memory function and all.

I paid less than a $100 for an used one 3-4 years ago but have not found one that inexpensive lately as I am looking for one at the moment.

Inspected for board track issues and found nothing to fix.

Nothing is broken until I have taken it apart and am unable to get it to work. Mine is officially broken.

Incidentally, the Ford seat module, also made in Spain probably on the same assembly line, is about $70 new, $35 used but I have never been able to get enough conformation to provide enough incentive to purchase one to try it. They physically look the same.

Anyone out there got access to both?

The Seat Module is a programmable module. When sourcing a used driver's side Seat Module, check the VCAT number and make sure it comes from a vehicle with the same options.

Failure to do this could find you spending two days like me troubleshooting a non-functioning seat heater.

I don't know whether this also applies to the passenger Seat Module as mine hasn't failed - yet.
