So my cable broke that works the extension of my steering wheel. But with the motor off but still electrically connected I can use the toggle switch to power the motor. The motor will run for about 4 sec then stop, if I push the toggle again in same direction the motor will run again for 4 sec. I am not clear if that is proper operation..

Can someone explain it?

 

On my car it takes about 4 seconds for the wheel to telescope from fully in to fully out and vice versa. It wouldn't surprise me if the electronics always cut the power after 4 seconds as a safety precaution, or it is timing out because the computer can't see any movement of the wheel, despite the motor turning.
