It looks nice. Doubt if there will be a big demand for it. Before the F-type, the XK was the only sporty Jag available, even though it was a 2+2. The F-type replaced it as the sport car. Now that they have a full line of sedans and SUV's to carry extra passengers, why buy a sports car with extra seating? Want a sport Jag, buy the F-type.

Because a 2+2 fits right in between a 2 seater and a sedan. Its basically a 2 seater sports car, with the capability of taking extra passengers if needed plus the extra luggage space of the back seats. I regularly use my XKR with two passengers, rather than taking my SUV and I'm not going to be the only one who wants that kind of flexibility.

Default Yes I want

Love my xk8 but getting close to 200,000 miles. I like the F type but the trunk is so tiny that I would have to put my clothing in a trash bag to travel.

larueb,

Nearing 200,000 miles, what is your concern?

Engine? Transmission? Cooling system? Electronics? Plastics? Overall wear-and-tear?

So...... ??? Any XK8 / XKR should be good for 400,000 - 500,000 miles between overhauls. Use your favorite synthetic oil , and keep driving.

In answer to the questions about my '99 with 197,000 miles on it and my concerns.
Love the car and have put off getting rid of her. Current concerns are
1- Drivers door drop - metal split around hinge and needs to be welded and reinforced. I have a quote of $250 which I think is great!
2- The Florida heat as done a bad number on all the plastic interior pieces. Lots of broken ones and the cost is insane;
3- The computer boards are acting up. The ABS board needs to repaired for a 2nd time, the ECU is strange then gets ok. The throttle position sensor needs to be replaced but a wiggle of the wire corrects it for weeks at a time;
4- Suspension needs to be refurbished including shocks.

All being said the car has had the valves redone and on the 3rd transmission and I get compliments each week on the style. The best advice I received from a member here is to look upon the cost of the Jaguar as entertainment and it becomes easier to consider.
Depending upon my mood I say spend the money vs get another. A fine glass of Irish helps the thought process. Bottom line, where can I get a car I love for $10,000?

I know it's nothing official. But the design in that picture does nothing for me.It looks like a F-type. So might as well buy a F-type. I hope if they do make it the new XK won't just be a stretched up F-type.

In my opinion, if JLR did decide to resurrect the XK, it most likely would be something along the lines of the Porsche Panamera on a bit smaller scale so as not to canabalise sales from the XJ.

You mean a 4 doors? That would not make much sense as they already have several 4 door sedans. I think a GT car is a better idea since they don't have one. The F-Type is a sports car.
