New junior member
I am a new member of the forum and want to say "Hello". I am a 70 year old male living in the city of Trondheim in the middle of Norway, partly retired from my work as an obstetrician an gynecologist.
I am very enthusiastic regarding British cars, I have had a 1969 Triumph TR 6 since 2016, but I have never owned a Jaguar before. In June 2021 I bought a 1997 model XK8 cabriolet which has done +/- 60000 miles. She is in good condition as far as I can judge, though I am not particularly technically skilled.
This summer has been very wet an cold her in the middle of Norway but we have managed to drive some 1800 miles without any problems except for a breakdown of the hydraulic pump operating the roof. I am waiting for a rebuilded pump to arrive from England, so hopefully will the problem be solved soon. In Norway the trend at our local jaguars dealers garage is unfortunately not to do a repair but instead just replace the part with a new one, which in this case was very expensive. So happily for us there are garages in the UK who still do repairs!
Sincerely Knut H Kierulf

Welcome to the forums Knut,
Jaguars thrive on 'wet and cold' - they're made in England!

You will do well as a gynaecologist as many of the parts can be felt but not seen . Its a technical motor trade term that "its a gynaecological job" for those inaccessible parts.
Welcome and good luck
Welcome and good luck
Dr. Knukie,
Welcome to the Forum! It's a long way from Norway to Texas, but if you are ever over in Houston give me a Call! I hope that you and your New "British" Jaguar continue to make Friends with each other and are able to drive many trouble-free miles together!
Why not send us all some Photos of the Beauty? We all love Convertibles!!!

Hello Knut!
I'm from Norway too, southeast from you, at Gjøvik. Good you got your pump fixed. I bought my first Jaguar two years ago, an XKR convertible. After reading on this forum I changed all the hydraulic hoses and timing chain and tensioners. After two years of driving I have changed one coil and one oxygen sensor, nothing unusual on a twentytwo year old car with 101 k miles on it.
