Hi all, greetings from a rainy uk. At 63 I have finally joined the ranks of jaguar owners. First came the 2014 XF sportbrake in Italian racing red, then the real fun car, a 1997 XK8.

I am normally shy, but the waves and smiles this car attracts help overcome the shyness.
We are in west London.

I dont think the police will be giving you waves and smiles....

More like a fine for incorrect spacing of the number plate.

Its possible, certainly not legal, but it's one of thousands to be seen daily on the roads, not sure police resources run to enforcing these rules. Legal plates in the boot just in case.

Totally agree with xkr day above there bud, need to watch the spacing on the plate ,you do get a bit of leeway on spacing if you car is registered before September 2001 but not much😯

I guess the front plate is also at an illegal angle, but e-types have been like it for 50 years, anyone here been pulled for this? Don't really want to mount it on the grill because it will ruin the cooling.

Hi John.
My front number plate is mounted the same as yours on the bonnet and I've never been pulled over for it. I DID get pulled over once for not having a valid MOT. It showed up on the police database as out of date. Luckily I'd just picked it up from the MOT station and had the MOT certificate on the passenger seat. I gave them a tour of the car, showing off the inside and the detailed engine. They never once remarked about the number plate being on the bonnet. Like you say, E-Types have had them for years....
Great car BTW, .. Love it.

Colin
