Default new oil drip from the front

I noticed some new oil spots on the drive today. Is this an engine oil cooler or transmission fluid cooler?

Do they typically start to leak?

Can the pipes enetring the top be tightened?

Can they be repaired?

I lifted the car a week ago using the front cross member, could this have disturbed it?

It's funny...and truly no disrespect here...I'm learning things about my beloved coupe every day.

But when I've seen your forum name in other posts...RaceDiagnostics...I thought to myself "oh good, we've got another pro here...we can always use new pros on the forum."

But then you've got basic questions, just like everyone else! Oh well. Glad you're in the group and we'll all help in any way we can.

Kick a man when he is down ehh.

I was snowboarding all day today so didn't get under the car yet but will get a better look tomorrow.

Whats with the lobe on the connection to the pipe, does it have any purpose, and is there a nut on top of that lobe.

Cairngorm in Scotland today.

Out there enjoying yourself and you want sympathy!

Looks like a great day.

The parts diagram makes the layout a bit clearer:

Could be a pipe gone but may just be an O ring. you're going to have to clean it off to see exactly where it's leaking.

I also found a parts list diagram for the later cars, from that it looks like the pipe is just pushed in with an o ring, I'm assuming the lobe is some kind of locking mechanism.

The pipes are secured with flange headed screws through the lobes on the 4.2 ltr.

13 years later and it looks like the replacement oil cooler has split. The car was moved out of the garage and back in a few days ago after being laid up last December.

The only item with oil is the lower part of the cooler.

A job for the next month or so.

What kind of replacement ? OEM Jaguar (new or used) aftermarket ? . Usually the issue is with the hoses, and less likely, the o-rings.

Had a brief look, will most likely get an aftermarket unit from DMG.

In the spirit of Hood/Bonnet, Trunk/Boot, Top/Hood etc.
Need a little explanation please. What is a lobe in Brit terms? In 'Mercan terms that is the lumps on a cam shaft to open the valves.
I'd like to learn something new, again. This meant to be :^) and NOT derogatory but I do want to know. TM

A lobe is just a bit that sticks out - cam lobe, ear lobe, etc. Not some mysterious British English term!

Ok thanks, like a nubbin. That's a bit that sticks out also. LOL In terms of the oil cooler then we are referring to the cast flange at the top of the cooler that the oil lines bolt to. Thanks.
Also good luck to the OP in solving this. I had cooler line troubles a while back and it's no fun dumping all your lube juice out. What a mess!! TM
