Default Newbie-98 XK8 ABS warning light & Traction Control

I'm new to the forum and I recently purchased a custom 1998 Jaguar XK8 with 22" Zenetti wheels and 11k miles on it. I purchased the car on-line and I've had some more initial issues with the car than I would have liked.

First, whenever I drive the "ABS" engine lightand the "Stabolity Control" error messages are on all the time. When I bought the car the seller said this was because of the 22" wheels. THe springs have spacers inserted to prevent the car from bouncing on the wheel wells. Does anyone have experience with custom wheels and let me know if this is a real problem or are the warninglights on because of the wheels? I'm not sure if it is possibly one of the computers, sensors or something else that is the issue.

I just had my S Type with this problem. If those lights are on you don't have ABS or traction control I'll bet he left off the sensors when
he put on the big wheels.

Thanks for the replies. I will have that checked out. Is there a way I can check if the sensors are still there? Or are you saying he may have just disconnected them?

I had the same problem with my 02 xkr.

Took it in and they replaced the Sensor harness on the right hand side. Mechanic indicated that this is a common problem and always seems to be the right hand sensor harness..

Cheap fix and the problem ahs gone away...

Your milage may vary!

The FAQ post has an excellent link to a discussion on ABS operation and trouble shooting.
