Default seat module repair

Thanks for getting back to me. All function work except the seat back will
recline, but won't come back up. I took the module out of the drivers side
and temporarily plugged it in the passenger side and all function worked.
Looks like some one spilled something in the module and a couple of the
circuit wires look corroded.

I am thinking about looking for a computer geek that can fix the board.
Mike

To Steve:
"....I would have to listen to my wife say, 'you should have gotten and SC430'."

She would be right............up to a point. I purchased a new SC430 for my wife and it has been flawless for the 5 years that we have owned it. Nice driving, perfectly reliable and classy looks. That being said, I greatly prefer to drive the Jag! The XKR feels like a race car, and reminds me of the cars that I drooled over as a kid. I know that it doesn't come close to some of the speed demons on the road, but it is plenty fast enough for me, has a incredible interior, and a drop dead gorgeous body. It may not be the best in any single category, but it scores extremely high marks in all of them. Sure, it has a few maintenance "warts", but what in life is truly perfect? I'm not, so is it reasonable of me to expect my car to be?
Good luck with your new Jag, I'm sure that you too will love it!
Regards,
Brian

If you swapped the modules, and got all functions on the other side, i'd focus on the switchpack with your buttons instead of the module. Take it apart and clean all of the contacts (especially the recline), most likely the spill happened on it and you lost some button function. Check wiring from the switches to the module as well next.

Default switch pack

I probably miscommunicated the problem. When I put the driver's side module on the passenger side,(the passenger side is the one that won't return the seat back) all functions on the passenger side worked fine.

Thanks, Mike

Ahhh, that makes more sense. Sorry, you are correct, it sounds like a short or bad connection IN the module. Better find someone who dabbles in circuit board repairs, I hear its not that difficult...though I shy away from repairs like that all the time.

I chose to spend my money on the best XK8 that my budget would allow.
Echoing these sentiments ... the XK8 can really Leap .. if you forget to turn off sport mode. I'm in the mountains too ... I need an "R" like another hole in the head :-) The most fun ever with your clothes on. There is a DIY fix for the hydraulic problem .. kit is about $300 or so .. mounts on the pump .. reduces the pressure down to about 900 psi from 1,600 as I recall ... totally adequate. Less pressure, less leaks/blowout.
