After doing a bit of research on the forum this morning, I realized that there are probably many XK8's out there that are showing their real dedication to the efforts of their owners. Sure, they routinely puzzle the mind with their various running issues, but for mine - now at 167K, the pleasure of driving the car has overshadowed all of the work it has taken to keep the car on the road over the years. So, I started this thread as a sort of tribute to the XK8's that have shown their loyalty by screaming straight past the 150K mark on to 200K!
I'm above 140k as well. I was thinking on this the other day. I started to list all the replacement parts I went through between 70k and 80k - yikes! While it took nearly 20 years to go the 1st 75,000 miles, these last 70,000 went much faster. Now, I just "can't wait" to:
Replace front wheel bearings again
Tie rods
Shocks (got to do the rears finally)
Springs(? Not even sure I needed this the 1st time)
Sway bar links (might as well add 'em to the list - rears made such a huge improvement)
Guess time has little to do with the wear and tear, unfortunately its the miles . . .
The Mistress is currently at 187600 miles - purchased her just over 10 years ago at 91500 on the clock and she is my daily (although that has slowed with current work from home status). Runs like a champ and still enjoy driving her although she needs stripped and painted
Just bought a 98 XK* as my driver to keep miles off my XKR, it has 142k and runs like new,, i drive about 15k miles a year so it will hit 150k here shortly.
