Found the answer at Jagrepair.com....very good instructions on hose replacement, manual roof operation, etc.... Our 2000 XK8 was 100% original until this past weekend when I had to finally replace the original tires even though they only had 20k miles....now, I will have to upgrade the hoses but at least this will be a good upgrade from OEM hoses.

Default Convertible latch replacement

Thanks. This is an excellent Forum. I found the Information on Japrepair website. Excellent information. I ordered the hoses from Top Hydraulics and will post again after the install is complete. The proper Hydraulic oil - Pentosin CHF 11S can be purchased at O'Reillys auto parts for around $26 for this 2000 XK8.

Yes, and yes. You need to manually lower/open the top before starting. You will find everything you need if you do a search on hydraulic latch and/or refer to Gus' fantastic site where everything on hydraulic top repair is covered: JagRepair.com - Jaguar Repair Information Resource

Edit: Oops; didn't see you already found it..
