I've been concerned about my Steering Wheel Leather as it is wearing badly! Since I'm sure you are having the same problem, I thought I would send this on to you Guys! TI found the answer to our problem! Go to: https://www.redlinegoods.com/SteeringWheelInstall.php
You can order the Leather and replace it yourself or send the Steering Wheel to them for the finished product. Whatever works for you! I found a Company in Dallas sometime back that will do the Wheel but their cost is much higher! These Guys also offer Leather Covers for the Emergency Brake and Gear Shifter. Check them out!
I have emailed them and will let you know for sure the answer! I assumed again, because they look so much like our Wheel...I just assumed again!! You know what that means.....
Also, I forgot to point out the Thumb Grips that can be placed on the Wheel along with the Noon Strip! When I made contact with the Dallas Company, that was a big Deal to them and they wanted quite a bit more for those extras....as they called them...I drew up a Wheel for them to make and they wanted $750.00 for it....Sorry but that's too much for me....
I know a few people in my mx-5/miata groups who have used the redline kits to re-upholster their wheels and they have nothing but good things to say about them, at least the ktis they've got for their mx-5s.
Example results (obvs, colours are a personal choice). Results vary based on skill, as you can see.
The kits make it a lot easier, but obvs pulling your wheel and shipping it will be best result.
Another option I've mentioned before is Wheelskins covers. Available all over the net- search to get best prices. They are lace on, and work very well. I installed one on my XK8, just to keep the wheel underneath nice, and also because the wood can get very hot here in Vegas. I bought the two-tone sport cover, and it matched very well the color of the original leather, and the two tone sort of matches the color of the wood. Color looks better in person vs the pictures I've attached. I've used them for years on many different cars, and have never been disappointed.
