Default O2 sensor identification and substitution

I replaced the engine 1999 XK8 (after a broken timing chain disaster) with a 2000 AJ27 engine. But the car is running in a restricted mode. I found that the right pre-cat O2 sensor has an open heating circuit..therefore, I guess, a constant restricted performance. I removed the sensor. It is a DENSO 192400-3100 (only reference to this number I found on some Swedish Jag site for 2000 Xjs.)
To make things more confused web sites suggest the change of the sensor depending on a VIN number ..before V031xx. and after. My VIN SAJGX2046XC033975 somehow does not correspond. Can anyone advise me what sensor I should buy, or should I replace both with a pair of new ones?

I got a response from DENSO - this part number is also listed as 234-9016, with the cheapest price found 393 dollars. It comes to 800 dollars for two....I am tempted to buy two Bosch 4 wire front sensors, splice the plugs and see what it will do...

Jaguar only uses the last 6 of the VIN for parts.

Your's is 033975 so there is the "up to (V)031302 and (V)031303 onward for the HO2S

Do you have power to the sensors??
Do you have continuity in the heater circuits in the sensors??

You need to diagnose the fault before you throw parts at a problem.

The Sensor 1 (upper) is LNE1684BB (might be superceded) (from (V)031303)

I would try to get the sensor from the salvage yard you got the engine from. They should still have the cataverter with the sensor. Offer them $50.00

Default O2 problem

thanks Bob,
for clarifying VIN confusion. The sensor is bad - open heating circuit - no continuity. I bought the engine in last October and it came from Oregon. It already has over 100k miles, so I would prefer "fresher" O2 sensor.
I already ordered a 4 wire - pre-cat sensor listed as compatible for 43 dollars - just have to splice the connector to it.

After a lot of internet research I have found that most suppliers list for late 1999 - to 2003 XK8 two types of pre-cat air/fuel sensors - Denso 234-9016 and 234-9029 ...the later costs a half price than 234-9016. Are they interchangeable? If not, then why?...

And if you need to cut the wires do NOT solder them, just crimp them. O2 sensors obtain a reference of O2 through the strands of wire and soldering them will not allow that to happen.
