Default OBDII port location???

Does anybody know where the OBD port is on a 1998 XK8? I looked under the driver's side dash and all I found was an aux outlet for a radar detector.

Any hints would be much appreciated. I just wanted to check to see if there were any codes. Th check engine light was on for a day and went out by itself.

If it is the same as my 2000, it is on the drivers side dash bottom, up against the door

This (circled in red) is what you are looking for:

It's recessed but doesn't have a cover over it.

By law the OBDII DLC has to be within 18" of the steering wheel.

Thanks Graham. Just been for my emission test and state inspection and the inspector couldn't find it. His computer was showing it alongside the transmission tunnel. I think he was looking at an XJ rather than an XKR.
