Default Odd beeping noise

Hello, just so we can continue the "whats that noise theme" I thought I would as a question regarding an odd beeping noise from my 97 XK8 coupe. Basically when I stop the car, switch off the engine a low toned beeping noise starts to sound. I have to put the key back into the ignition and then remove it again before the beeping noise stops. This doesnt happen every time, maybe 4 times in the last 3 months. Im sure its something stupid, however being relativly new to the world of Jaguar Im just not sure.......

Any comments would be appreciated....

Do you shift to Park, or put it in Neutral?

If the car thinks that it isn't in Park, the Tone will sound.

Gents, Thanks for the comments. The car is always in park when I hear the tone.

little 'window' in the ignition barrel may not be closing, thinks the key is still inside...lubricate the barrel with some electronics cleaner, work the key in and out, test my theory.
