Default Oil Change Question

Good morning.

I have yet to change in the oil in my newly acquired '97 XK8. The sticker indiciating the last oil change was taken off and I forgot to ask the previous owner. Therefore, to aire on the side of caution, I am going to change it this weekend. Is their anything in particular I need to know? I have owned American cars (mostly Fords) my entire life and have been accustomed to their simplicity. The Jag has opened up a new dimension that is a bit out of my comfort level, due mostly to being unfamiliar with the brand. At any rate, what do you recommend for oil, filter, etc? Thanks!

Really, nothing out of the ordinary. We carry both the OE and aftermarket filters. I recommend you change the drain plug washer, but I'm **** that way. It takes more oil than an American car.

Don't forget jack stands! Be safe![sm=nono.gif]

"drain plug washer"

There is a seperate washer? My dealer says the washer is part of the drain plug and requires a new plug.

It is an o-ring pressed into the mating surface of the plug. I have reused mine mulitple times. Just dont over torque. gordo

original old school plugs needed a washer type.. it seems to be updated with the newer ones.. with the oring built in to the drain plug.. you can buy just the oring.. when needed..
