Just mental meandering. Apparently, the bypass setups filter down to 2 microns versus the 10 microns of the full flow filters. The stock filtering is retained, but the bypass system continuously filters a diverted side stream of oil.

Have you ever tried the Porsche filters? They are the only other stock fitment with the same thread. But, they make some *huge* filters. Some look to be a foot long. Even the stock filters are a good size. Not like the tiny stock filters on later Jaguars.

Maybe Porsche expects more wear? Or are they using a filter that can trap smaller particles?

The circuit in the front will only open when the oil reaches a certain high temperature, so it will not have a constant flow, but is under pressure all the time.
