hey forum, I haven't gone under to look yet but I have noticed a lil drop of oil on the floor right behind my front tire on the passenger side ... everything on top of engine looks dry do ya think the oil filter can be a lil loose or the screw to oil pan leaking ????? any ideas where to check for when I take a look ??? tony car now has 83,500 miles on it..............

 

Tony, could be the oil pan gasket (Seal, O-ring). Mine, an 03, had a seep from oil pan and dripped on floor below the filter area. after clean-up, discovered the leak was around the oil pan area. Replaced the gasket (nca1730ad) and clean now. Your 4.0L probably same number, Easy to do and detailed in a thread earlier.

Replace Eng. Oil Pan Gskt, 4.2L
Replaced the gskt. with 125K miles on my 2003 XK8 last night. Drained oil and removed the 18 (8mm) head bolts, plus removed the (2) X-Brace bolts at rear behind front wheels to allow the pan to drop some. Dropped the pan and maneuvered it out w/o a mess. Cleaned the pan (nothing) and removed the old gskt. Sprayed brake clean in the grove to be sure it was clean and re-installed. Torqued the bolts in sequence to 11 NM, 9 Ft. Lbs. or 105 inch lbs. Refilled with oil and appears all is well.
