Oil Pan Removal
I've searched the Forum but haven't been able to find any specific information on oil pan removal for my '99 4.0 engine. Lots of info. on transmission pan removal, but no joy on oil pan removal.
I need to drop my oil pan to fish for the plastic "shoes" from the old style plastic secondary tensioners. I've replaced both using the zip tie method (no trouble at all thanks to information from this forum! Thanks. And, yes both were beginning to split at 77,XXX miles.)
Both tensioners were missing their plastic shoes from the moveable end of each tensioner. They are likely in the oil pan, thus removal is necessary.
Are there any pieces of advice for removal or is it straight forward?
I've got a new oil pan gasket. Do I need anything else besides the usual tools?

Pretty straight forward but found some info from the JTIS.
See attached, good luck fishing, did to my 97 years ago. I believe the are 3 bolts holding the siphon filter assembly. You need to remove and get the plastic out.
May want to get a new gasket but it is rubber.

It's straightforward and detailed in the PDF DpezXK8 attached in post #2
1. slacken all 18 bolts
2. remove all except the 4 at the corners
3. support the pan with the palm of one hand
4. remove the final 4 bolts
5. lower the pan
When refitting, pay close attention to the tightening sequence and the torque.
