Reason I asked was there have been problems with the solenoid on the starter motor. Solenoid clicks but does not energise the motor itself. Can be intermittant.

I'm carrying an extra key just in case it's the chip. Other then that I'm thinking the shifter switch that tells the car it's not in drive or reverse.
Ok so she been good. Went out to eat finished and no start no turn over. Click click from the box behind the battery. I had left the driver door open while going to the trunk. Opened the trunk took out the clubs when the door open chime makes its noise. Car started right up. Got it home and parked it.
Went out to start her up and nothing. Turn the ignition to off and click click. Opened the trunk disconnected the negative and reattached after a minute. Started right up.
Oh BTW when it wouldn't start/ turnover there was a red light flashing near the shifter.

Sounds like you might have a security module problem. The fact that moving things around in the area of the module which is in the trunk under the fuse box makes me think there may be a connection problem. Might be worth reseating the connections to that module.

Sounds like good advice . You talking about the ground?
On one end of the module it has some plug in connectors. With the battery disconnected try unplugging them one at a time and replugging them in. The fact it flashed the light and made the chime when you moved things around might mean one of them isn't making good connection. Its the module underneath the fuse box in the trunk.

With the key in the car and your foot on the brake are you able to move the shifter? Are the dash lights on with the key on?
As for the security module in the red light flashing??

The red light flashing is indication that the security on the car was violated. Use your remote to cancel it and try another key. If that does not work you may need to look at the exciter ring at the ignition they have been known to fail preventing the car from restarting. The key has a chip in it that the security system via the exciter ring needs to see.

She's been pretty good lately but last night was interesting. Opened the door and noticed the interior lights were dim. Wouldn't start. Before I would hear a clicking and the security light on the shift console was blinking. This time the dash/gauge lights were flickering. Very strange. Disconnected the negative and called it a night. Woke up this morning reconnected the negative and it started right up.
Took it to a garage and had the check the battery and the charging system. All is well and the battery is only a year old.
Any thoughts? Help. I never know when it's going to leave me stranded.

No but I sure will. Thanks.
Also check to see if the key flap in the ignition switch is properly closing when you remove your key. They have been known to stick and cause a battery drain. Wouldn't be a bad idea to lube your ignition switch innards with some graphite powder. Use it sparingly - just a quick spray will be more than enough. Then insert and remove your key a half-dozen times or so to distribute the graphite around inside the switch....

Keeping them ideas coming guys I'll try the all.
I think I found the problem. It's been fine for months and all I did was not turn on the GPS/clock.
Believe it or not I've been living with this problem for years.
