Default P0116, P0125: Sensor, Fuse, or Short?

It seems that my kitty doesn't get enough attention!

In the last few months I have the following happening about three or four times. As I am driving, the temp guage would stop working and I get a RESTRICTED PERFORMANCE notice. After a few miles the message will disappear, and the temp guage will go back to normal again. The CHECK ENGINE will come on and will normally stay on for a day or so, after which it will disappear as well.

I pulled the codes yesterday, and got a P0116 and P0125. I know the coolant is not low, since I have replaced half the cooling system and expansion tank. (I am pranoid about the coolant!)

However, do I have a coolant temp sensor that is bad, or an electrical short, or is there a fuse that is bad?

Any ideas? (If it is the sensor, would part LNA1600AA be the one?)

Thanks in advance..

I had strange behavior once with my coolant temp readings...wildly up and then wildly down...and discovered that the sensor connection was simply loose. The plastic tabs that hold the harness connector to the sensor had become brittle and cracked, the connection was becoming loose and a bit intermittent. Once that issue was fixed, the strange behavior stopped and hasn't returned.

Make sure your connections at the sensor are clean and tight, and see if that helps.
