Default P0327 Knock Sensor right side out of range

Had the radiator hose blow off the thermostat housing and since have the P0327 code and restricted performance. Cleaned everything up and put it all back together but still have the P0327 and RP. Guess that the KS is dead at the moment. Any experience with resurrecting a KS or just replace it?

I cleaned the connector with WD40 at the thermostat tower and reset the code. It went away for a couple miles but came back. Did it again and will try tomorrow. I can forgive it for failing under its antifreeze bath but should clear up after any electrical issues are resolved. It would seem reasonable that the internal sensing elements should be at least a little water proof.

The sensor seems relatively easy to remove/replace and will try that before installing a new one.

Testpoint, I used a small wire brush, shaped like a paint brush to clean the knock sensor on the bottom after taking it off and holding it with a pair of needle nose and the same brush to get the ground cleaned off with out any undue stress. Just don't drop the nut. A three prong pick up after it's loose will do nicely.

Nut? Mine is held down with a male torque bolt. Happen to have a set of female Torque sockets. Last time I drove it the P0327 came back but not the RP. Maybe it is getting better.

Guess it healed up all by itself. Out for a run this afternoon and no sign of codes or RP.

Tom, I had the same issue with the knock sensors what I found out is that water/moisture of any type around the knock sensor is not good. I can tell you that I replaced mine without removing the manifold just be sure to use an adhesive to hold the nut in the socket and when you unplug the sensor tie a string around the lead to help you pull the new one in. I did mine in the parking lot of my condo and did not take photos. Sorry!
