Just in the last few days the fuel guage on my 2001 XK8 has being playing up. One time it showed completely empty so I switched off the engine and restarted the car and the fuel guage showed 3 quarters full which was correct. This has now happened a few times.


Today its reading a quarter full which is not correct. It usually clears itself when I switch the car off and on (reboot)


Also, today I got an "orange engine light" up on my rev counter but no error message.


My ODB meter reads P0460 - Fuel level sensor A circuit malfunction and 1642 - Manufacturer control.


I thought initially it could be a low battery and so every night I put on the trickle charger, but I am still having the problem.
I had a new battery fitted around 18 months ago and a new fuel pump about a year ago


The car is running great no misfires or anything.
I have erased the ODB readings.


Has anyone had this fuel guage problem before??
