Default Oil Leak Question

Noticed a small oil drip on the garage floor.
Here is a photo of what's happening underneath.
Any suggestions for where the oil is coming from?

Looks green...or is that just the picture, can you tell what colour it is?
PS fluid is Pink, coolant could be green, although later models are Orange.

Highly likely to be power steering fluid at that spot...I've had a weeping leak there as well. Nothing major but I'm keeping an eye on it.

Take a white paper towel and wipe at the spot of the drip or on the garage floor...as the previous post said, if it's pink or reddish, it's power steering fluid.

I checked this morning and it's brown, same color as the oil on the dipstick.

Welcome to the forum X100.1,

Besides the drip on the garage floor which is obviously annoying, it looks exceptionally clean underneath. Have you recently acquired the vehicle? If you have, the PO or dealer may have been trying to cover up an on-going leak issue.

A few drops is unlikely to be an indication of impending catastrophe but understandably you want it fixed. Coolant is green or orange; power steering fluid is red; transmission fluid can be anywhere from golden when new to black after a few years. The brown you've checked could therefore be engine oil or transmission fluid. The regular leak for engine oil is the camshaft cover seals and it's possible this could run down the side of the block and find its way onto the rack.

Alternatively, if it's transmission fluid, the pipes to the cooler could be loose or damaged.

Power steering leak from the rack would be my guess. I had the same situation about a year ago, small golden brown leak on the driveway (a drip or two). I thought it was an oil leak because of the color (as I expected power steering fluid to be pinky/red). But, it turned out to be leaking from the steering rack, and so did the second and third rebuilt ones that we installed. Fourth try was a charm! No problems since.

Could it be that since the atf for the gearbox was originally a gold color which looks like motor oil, it was also used in the power steering? But it still smells like atf if I recall correctly. So give it the sniff test and compare to the fluid in the power steering reservoir for color and odor.
