The D4 switch in the selector illumination module is complaining about the circuit.

Check the round plastic plate moved by the selector lever and the little micro-switch at the front of the housing.

Please find and read ALL TSBs related to the car you have. Jaguar went to the trouble of issuing bulletins to address many common problems.

P0706 is SPECIFICALLY addressed in TSB 307-05.
