Ladies and gentlemen, I need some help on my 1997 xk8, I am getting the check engine light and every once in a while i get the stability/traction control fail messages and also the gearbox fail message. There is no actual problem with the car when I drive it around town, I would just like to figure out these troubles before it progresses to something bad or it causes me to get into an accident. I plugged in a ebay obd 2 code reader and got the code p1797. I looked at previous threads and did follow some advice. I replaced the battery with a new one, reset the ecu, and checked the connections at the ecu and tcm for wear with no avail. I do not know how to approach this problem next. Your help will be gladly apprecaited, thank you.

Oh the error sorry I forgot to mention the error means CAN TCM/ECM Circuit Malfunction, and when I said I checked the connections at the ecu/tcm I mean I simply looked at them, I did not do anything but I heard some people use a volt meter to check the connections etc... Should I do that or any idea what I should check next? thank you
