A KTM failure is always a possibility although they are rarely reported. If it isn't a harness or module fault then another possible cause is the key transponder coil surrounding the ignition switch. A similar arrangement in the XJ40 is quite a frequent fail.
Still no luck ... No start.
So doing a hard reboot to see if that helps.
Then off to garage who say they work on Jags.

I'm only asking because I have a similar problem. My 2001 XKR slept for a couple of months in my garage (new battery + Ctek) when I took it for a 15 miles ride yesterday. Ran without any problem, parked it near my office but wouldn't start a couple of ours later. It cranks and runs for maybe one or two seconds but dies almost immediately. I also tried the full-throttle trick but no luck. Called the auto service and the guy diagnosed a P1260 error - which Torque Pro didn't show (actually TP didn't show any codes at all), so I doubt it has something to do with the immobilizer circuit.
From what I have read here I'm suspecting the fuel pump now.

I spent over $700 on various changing out fuel pump which was $70 a transponder coil on ignition. Hours of diagnosis. Only to find it was a $15 fuel pump relay. Swap out the horn relay with the fuel pump they are identical and try that first. Then next inexpensive. By the way the fuel pump access on a convertible is a little tricky.
Hi Mark,
thanks for your quick reply and your idea trying to swap the relay first. I will do that.
Otherwise this will be going to be the 'long road' you mentioned (i.e. trial and error) - at least that's what I suspect.
