Default P1646 2000 xkr

Hi all,

I'm having a head ache with error code P1646.

I have had a look around the forum to see what the cure is.

I have swapped Relays for the Fuel pumps and still the engine management light comes back on.

I have had the codes read by 2 different readers. One said O2 sensor bank 1 upstream. the other pointed at the Relay for fuel pump 2!!!! argggh!!!

My question is.... What is bank one while sitting in the car??

Is it passenger side or Driver?

Also where is the 2nd Fuel pump?

Kind Regards

Carl

P.s.

I'm a Mechanic but this one has got me!! LOL

JTIS says A bank upstream sensor. This would be the right side when sitting in the car. Whether it's the driver side depends on right hand or left hand drive. Generic code readers can give erroneous interpretations to the codes. It is best to download the JTIS from the sticky near the top of the page so that you have the codes and repair info at hand.

Both fuel pumps are located in the fuel tank.

Carl - for my particular engine, the DTC is ECM HO2S control malfunction A Bank upstream. Here is a diagram from the how to thread in this section. You can also download the JTIS which will give the DTC's for the various engine configurations/VIN's

I see this is your first post, so when you have a moment request that you make an introductory post in the new member section

Pheew I have replaced the correct O2 sensor also.

However I used a universal Bosch sensor.
Having read the threads on the Forum it would appear that this may not be a wide band sensor therefore still putting my light on!!
