hi, started car but could not select `drive` until revs got to about 3000, then it clunks in and drives with check engine light and reduced performance. everything fine before. Is this another electronic bug or more serious. ive checked for treads but found none that have this 3000 rev issue. any clues lads?

 

Your car is equipped with a rev limiter and when in “P” it will not go over 3000rpm; however if you put it in “N” I think it will. As for the P1722 this is a transmission code and you need to have it checked. One problem that it identifies is that it could be low on fluid and the other is driving it hard from a standstill (accelerating hard). Drive it only to the shop if you can and get it checked. Towing is a better option, you could cause extensive damage driving it this way. As for the Restrictive Performance I am not sure it was caused by the trans problem or something other than that.
