My 2005 XK8 passenger window drops the half inch when you open the door but then goes back up making it hard to close the door unless you hold the handle up. This makes it hard to latch the door. I have been having my beautiful wife exit with the window down a bit then I raise the window after the door is closed. Now with this issue I cannot run around and open the door for her. Not sure where to look first for this issue. Any directions of what to check first second and third would be most helpful.

Could be a failing microswitch in the door latch assembly. Many of us have replaced those microswitches with more robust ones to resolve that issue....

Could also be a failing battery....

But the first thing you should do is to reset both windows. In the drivers seat, lower the drivers window all the way down and do not release the switch until you hear a faint "click". Then, raise the drivers window all the way up and do not release the switch until you hear that same faint "click"....

Then, move to the passenger seat and do the same thing with the passenger window. If you are lucky, that may resolve your issue. Let us know....

 

Any suggestions on where to get a more robust micro? Which door handle is it on, the inside or outside handle?

Many of us order our microswitches from www.mouser.com. The correct part number is Omron D2SW-3L3MS. Order at least two because sooner or later, both door latch assemblies (driver and passenger) need a new one....

The microswitches are in the door latch assembly. You must remove the interior door card to get to it. There are a couple of videos here on the forum that take you through most of the process. Look for "How-To Videos" in the sticky threads section at the top of the XK8 forum page....

There are also quite a few threads that describe this job, complete with photos. Search the forum using "XK8 door latch microswitch replacement" as your search phrase and you will have plenty of studying to do....
