Default Window Issue

I have an odd issue with the passenger side window when opening the door.
Usually the window goes down about 1/4" and stays there until the door is closed and then goes back up. However now my window goes down slightly when the door is opened, but immediately goes back up while the door is still open. This makes shutting the door impossible because the window glass interferes. I have to lower the window via the button and then close the door and then raise the window. I have reset both windows via the procedure numerous times, but it still shows this behavior. 2003 XKR convertible. Any ideas?

Start with a check of your battery. Even a working but low battery starts to make the electrical gremlins wake up.

Your window issue is a classic first sign.

The battery is good. Strange thing is the drivers side works fine, just as it is suppose to.

Does the car know the door is open (micro switch in latch)? This happened to me with switch stuck. Neither the puddle lights nor the red passenger door open displayed when door was open. So it was as if I touched door handle with door closed.

It's a bit more of a pain in the neck to fix switch vs.Batterry so I hope it is the easy one.

I agree with Johnken it is very likely the microswitch in the door latch assy that detects that the door is open. If there is no door open message on the speedo display and no interior light on when you open the door, that is further confirmation.

Part number is C2N1908 and it is and is around 30 bucks.

Thanks for the replies.

Looks like it probably is the micro switch as there is no door open message on the speedo display and no interior light on when I open the door.

Sounds like a PITA to replace too.

It's really not that hard, I've done both sides now. Just take your time and follow the directions for setting up the switch. Very rewarding to complete a $5 fix for such an important repair. You will end up damaging your trim on the door if you do not get it fixed.

Jandreu is right. JagRag this is one of those jobs that sounds mighty intimidating but it is suprisingly easy if you just follow the step by step instructions.
