Default A-pillar trim corrosion prevention

Last year I replaced the corroding A-pillar trims but have the worry that the new ones will eventually go the same way. Does anyone know of a way to prevent the corrosion happening in the first place.

Are these a similar Aluminium and Rubber construction as used on the door waist rails?

If so, the problems are down to inadequate priming by the manufacturer supplying Jaguar. Probably the only solution is to take the paint back to bare metal and use a quality etch primer before refinishing in Dorchester Gray.

Yours look like mine! This fix is on my todo list - where did you find replacements?

The problem is with the rubberised section of the trim, however it does pull off, the remaining Dorchester Grey parts on my old trim was still in good condition. The rubberised U channel is made of aluminium coated in rubber and in places the aluminium had completely disintegrated.

Finding a way to protect the rubberised section is the key to the problem, or finding an alternative supply of the U channel.

I have seen some alternative rubber U channel which was ridged but have not found a smooth version yet, the original is smooth on the outside and "felt" on the inner edge.

Perhaps this would work.
