Default Pin Striping??

My XK is about ready for final paint. The color will be ALMOST the original Ebony, but with a little metal flake. I like 'almost' original, but not quite. I usually add a small pin strip to my cars, and am considering one for the XK, but there seems to be no obvious location(very distinct hood bubble, belt line, etc.).
Have any other owners added pin stripes? Would like to see the results.

Pinstriping these cars would greatly detract from the lines....

Totally agree.

Before you commit to painting, why not try some pinstripe tape and see how it looks.

Hi Sam,
I have pin stripping on my XKR and I like it. My XK8 does not have one but I think that it accentuates the lines.

I don’t like pin striping on these cars. I think it interrupts the curves.

Using tape is the idea I had considered. I understand the reluctance to tape the XK, that is why I wanted to see results from any others. If done right, a small strip will enhance rather than obstruct any curves. Just have to be selective.
'Bradstuff' design seems about right. Any full side shots available??

Sam,

Please don't put that "Used Car" Stripping on your Beautiful newly painted XK8.....If you have to put something on it...maybe you could put some Accent Tape on the Rocker Panels as I have done.....I have used the accent colors of the "R" Package, which are BRG/Silver/Red....and put it on the Front part of the 2005-2006 Rocker Panel.....Not a lot of Color but enough to be noticed....Maybe something like that....? If you don't like it....You can remove it later....I had the BRG/Red Printed and then used Chrome Tape to cover the middle.

Hey Sam!
Here are some other pics of my 2001 XKR. Ultimately you give the car the look that benefits you and makes you happy. My XK8 has no striping and I am happy with that. It has a different look than the XKR. This XKR was a completely bespoke company car ordered and spec'd by the National Sales Manager for Jaguar North America. It was what he wanted. I am keeping it the way it was delivered.
Good Luck!

Sam
Mine came with what I assume is from the factory with Jaguar logo included. Personally I think they add to the already beautiful lines on the car.

I've always thought that a simple strip will emphasise the natural line, but each to their own ideas. That's what makes the hobby.

I had it on my car when I bought it and it was in good shape so I left it. When I repainted it, I felt it looked better without. I actually do prefer the look with the body side molding on, plus i like that its stopped idiots car doors more than once. So with having the one, I don't want the other.

Unfortunately, very little stops Idiots from banging into doors.
