I am changing the pinion oil seal on my XK8 and according to the manual I just need to torque up the nut to 203-223 Nm once I've swapped out the seal. There's no mention of setting the preload by adjusting the nut torque and checking the parts diagram it seems like the preload is set via shims and spacers rather than a crush washer. Is that correct?
I'll count the number of turns when I take off the nut in any case just to be on the safe side but it would be good to get confirmation of the correct procedure from someone in the know.
