Default Pollen filter

When buying service parts for my 100k service, I also bought a pollen filter, only to read, in several threads, that such a filter might not be fitted to my 2003 MY XKR Convertible.

Since I had felt my blower beeing weaker than I would expect, and having an annoying whine at level 3 and above, I decided to just dig in and see if there was a filter there or not. Lo and behold, there was. And it was far from pristine.

I first tried to remove the wipers without a puller - I can NOT recommend this. At first I tried without, but after half an hour of pulling, wiggling, prepping with corrosion eater and penetrating oils, I gave up and went to buy myself the puller. With the 2-jaw puller, they snapped off in a second.

With a sharp eye, you *may* be able to discern the new filter from the old.

Yuck.

That's all I have to say about that.

Did you have birds nesting in there?

No, but a cute little squirrel family. I carefully moved them to the air intake filter.

Very considerate. They'll have the whole Inlet Trunk to play in now.

Very perplexing. Brutal has said several times here on the forum that pollen filters/cabin filters were not fitted into the XK series until the 2007 model year. Perhaps that is only true for the cars destined for the US. What's the story? Has anyone here in the US discovered that their 2006-and-older XK indeed has a pollen filter?

Yes, my 2001 XKR had a place for a pollen filter and one has been fitted without any alterations or adjustments.
I have not been able to ascertain if the correct blower adjustment has been done or even how to do it.
I believe you need a Jaguar software program to change the blower setting.
If anyone could chime in on this thought, it would be appreciated.

Happy Motoring...
