Default Power Steering Fluid ?

My 2006 XK8 owners manual specifies Dexron IIE. Has that been superceded by Dexron III? Dexron IIE seems to have gone the way of the dinosaurs....

When turning our steering wheel at speed, it sometimes coos very softly like a dove. Our S-Type did the same thing a couple of years ago, and a $9 magic liquid additive from Jaguar specified in a TSB and poured into the power steering fluid tank quieted the steering wheel to tomb-like silence once again. But my TSB paperwork from that time lists only the XJ, S-Type, and X models. No mention of the XK models for this particular fix. Have any XK users had this problem and fixed it with the magic additive?

I use Mobil 1 synthetic ATF. I just suck out what's in there at every oil change and refill with the Mobil 1. I have no problems with noise.

My S had also experienced the infamous steering noise, but I have never heard of the problem on the XK.

The only problem I've had with mine is that all the fluid came out all over the floor yesterday. Seems the hose had broken. Should have it fixed by tomorrow says "el mechanico"....

Don't feel bad, it's not a North American term either.

Isn't it that space under the spare wheel where you pour epoxy resin to cast an emergency replacement steering wheel?
