I just took my door panel off to get a look at why nothing electronic in my doors work.
First things first, the entire wiring harness for the window switch and power mirrors has disintegrated.
In fact you can see in the picture that the plastic harness connector had split into two large parts, and then the rest of it is just gone.
Luckily the previous owner had told me that the connector was broken and supplied me with another connector that plugs into the back of the switch just peachy.
Unfortunately it appears as though the wiring colors and positions on the connector don't match up at all to the original connector.
I have so many questions, where did this newer connector come from, why does it have a different pin layout and wire combinations. What is the compatibility here?
I might be able to convert from one harness to the other if I had a wiring diagram to play with, or enough time to just poke and prod until i figured it out myself.
Do I need to go find a 97 in the junkyard and cut this connector out of the car and only use a 97? Does anyone know the compatibility model years for these switches?
Where can I get diagrams like this so I am not reliant on asking here on the forums for these vital bits to repair the wiring harnesses.

Check out the Stickies' Threads at the top of the listings. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...ts-data-29800/
Plenty of good information that Forum members have grouped together in handy alphabetic order. Basically Stickies are threads that the moderators keep eternally alive as it covers essential info and, for me, covers virtually my entire possible To Do list …. Plus the pictures of everyone's cars can be just plain WOW! and gives us some inspiration.
JTIS is essentially the factory service manual and it is indeed helpful. It covers only through the 2004 model year but I have found that it has been generally sufficient for both my wife's 2006 XK8 and my former 2005 S-Type (which I sold last year). JTIS is available as a download from this site, but for me it was easier to purchase it on CD for about $6 from ebay back in June 2009....
I did some mapping to connect the foreign harness to the window switches that i possess.
I was successful in bench testing all up and down window switching and wired the harness into the drivers door.
I went to go test by moving the windows up and down respectively and experienced different behavior from both.
Drivers side up and down switches: when pressed i will hear a relay clicking inside the driver door. No movement of the window happens.
Passenger side up and down switches: when pressed i hear nothing. No movement of the window happens.
Am I running into compounding problems here? I have verified that the switch is working correctly and receiving power/ground and passing that power to the proper switch wires to drive the windows.
Are there other computer functions that would prohibit the movement of the windows? Or is it only likely that i have two dead window motors or two window motors not receiving both power and ground?
I also do not have power door locks in any capacity, the lights at the bottom of the door, and I get door open warning messages from both driver and passenger doors. Things I am still hunting down the solutions to.
Hatter - I have the wiring harnesses for both driver and passenger off my 97 part out. If you would rather just replace the harness (or connector) than do all the pin-out work. I'd think it would be easier. Just PM me an offer!
