Preferred Battery?
Searched the forum but didn't come up with much. Do you all have any strong opinions on which battery to run?
My current one is showing some signs of needing replacement. I guess it's been 4-5 years. It's some Interstate battery (although it is an AGM). Reconditioned it with the CTEK, but eh, you can only do so much.
I was thinking about getting a Diehard Gold from Advance. 900 CCA. Decent enough reviews. This is not my wheelhouse, though.
Cheers

I have been getting batteries from Orielly auto parts for the last decade or so. The “nice” cars get the high end AGM model and I have been happy enough with them. I live in Phoenix which is about as punishing as it gets.
Batteries are a consumable IMO and I’ve not seen a marked difference between name brand and store brand so long as you are not getting the bottom of the barrel cheapest thing out there.
I think it works like whisky, there is a big difference between a $15 bottle and a $50 bottle but a far smaller jump $50 to $150, so I mostly shop in the mid range.

You are on the right track.
This is the one I have in mine. On my 2nd one now. I only replaced the first one after about 5 years as a preemptive measure. And I will be getting same one soon for my 2011 XJL I just bought.

Generally there are not a large number of actual battery manufacturers (economies of scale, for example). Johnson Controls just recently sold off their huge battery division to a new company called Clarios that makes AGM and other batteries sold as Diehard, Duralast, Varta, Optima, Interstate and on and on... So, if you're going to get an AGM battery, it's likely made in the same plant as many of the other choices, except for O'Reilly, which is made by a different manufacturer (East Penn) that I think is still independent.
Moral of this story: buy low.

My NAPA AGM battery is showing no signs of aging. From a previous post of mine:
You can't go wrong with the NAPA Legend Premium AGM battery. Right size, good price, good warranty, and working very well for me.
it bears pointing out, you can go wrong by trying to cheap out on the battery with these cars. The electrical system does NOT tolerate drops voltage. On these cars especially, a battery tender is a smart move whenever the car is not being driven overnight or longer.

The Bosch 49/850B AGM vented battery I installed in July 2018 continues to work quite well. As you know, these cars are essentially rolling computers and the stronger the battery, the fewer the issues you are likely to suffer from....

Yes, a choice between the color red and another slightly different color of red. I think this is especially true if you're looking for an AGM battery, which everyone should around here.
I am going to look into this Bosch battery and compare prices now.
most of these “branded” batteries are made to different specifications as requested by the company whose name (NAPA in my case) is plastered all over the battery.
I’ve found that owner care of a battery is the most important factor in battery longevity irregardless of the name it’s sold under. That goes double for batteries used in our cars.

I can attest to an AGM battery being able to take a beating and still work reliably.
I had a fuel pump problem (not battery related) and had backed the car into the driveway to try to diagnose. I couldn’t get the car started again, so key on, shift to neutral and push it back into the garage.
Me being the dumbass that I am left they key in position 2 for, oh I don’t know, a week. I have never seen a deader battery in all my life. Took the battery out, charged it back up and it’s been in use for a couple years since, no issues whatsoever.

Thanks folks. If you're curious, I went with the diehard platinum AGM that rockwell suggested. The deciding factor? Advance Auto Parts is the closest store to my house.
A little expensive, but I don't really care. Car cranks so much better now.
