If those shelves are on an outside wall, the wind hitting the outside could vibrate the wall enough for all that stuff to fall off the shelves...but the fall will be broken by your car. A much less powerful storm did that once to my 1969 XKE.

Thanks! I do have all my shutters closed and the house is concrete block with a clay tile roof so I should not have any issues... esp. since Irma has pushed more to the west coast.

From the West Coast, Tampa Bay Area, both Jags are nestled in the garage. All we can do is ride it out now. Everyone in Florida, Stay Safe.

My son in law and I sent the women and children north to visit relatives in Indiana.

We are busy eating all the perishable foods and watching NFL Red Zone.

Oft said, but so true: we love our cars, but they're replaceable.

You are not.

Well I made out fine... a few trees down (including a huge banyon tree behind my house) and a lot of debris everywhere.. no power and the real feel is 99° but otherwise safe and sound!

Fine in my area too. Not nearly the gloom and doom that the news media was predicting. We lost power for about 12 hours due to a tree winning a battle with a power line nearby. Lost a few plants in the wind.

Other areas not so lucky.

Glad to hear that all is OK!! As you go about cleaning up and happen to see utility men working be sure to thank them. They are working long hours 24/7 to get the power back up and running in the worst conditions possible. No harm in offering cold drinks or coffee and snacks they deserve it.. Many came from outside Florida.

Certainly glad to hear everyone made it through OK. Also just a lot of debris to clean up, power came on about 9:15 last night, still a lot of folks in the area without power. Did have a house up the street have a 30' pine tree crash through their roof, pulled up the sidewalk and part of their driveway, everything else is just debris.
