Price for a 2006 XKR Coupe?
Guys...
I recently bought a 2000 XJ Sovereign for little money. It has a couple of electrical 'hiccups' but thanks to this forum (special thanks to Jim Lombardi) I think I'll be able to fix these problems - or at least tell someone else how to fix it.
Anyway...it's a good car but definitely the wrong vehicle for a guy in the final stage of his midlife crisis. ;-)
So I decided to look for a second car for letting off some steam at the weekend (or any other day). If this is going to happen it will be a 4.2 XKR Coupe.
Right now the market for these cars seems to be quite narrow in continental Europe, at least from my experience. Also, prices seem to be steady, maybe even with a slight upward tendency for well maintained/low mileage/fully optioned XKRs.
I found an offer for a car with only 26.000 miles and with a lot of otions - sports package, Alpine sound, etc. Probably almost everything since this is a 2006 model imported from the US. I guess this is one of the last X100s ever made/sold.
Just curious - how much would an XKR like this (let's assume in an overall very good condition, according to the mileage) roughly cost in the US when offered from a dealer?
Thanks!

Thanks.
Btw, I meanwhile wonder if the upgrades of the post 2002/2003 models justify the premium over the 'old' XKRs. This has been discussed a couple of times and of course the 4.2L model is more desirable, at least from a technical point of view.
OTOH there are a couple of 'medium'-mileage 4.0L cars out there which have a quite attractive price. Since the car would (mainly) supposed to be a 'weekend cruiser' I think this might also be an option.

I'd say the 4.2, but the one advantage of the older XKRs with the 4.0 was the bullet proof Mercedes transmission. The later ones were ok, but everyone misses the MB reputation there.
However, as with any development cycle, the later you are in it, the more likely the bugs have been worked out. Therefore 2006 should be as good as they got.

I had a 2000 XKR coupe for a couple of years. I just recently bought a 2003 XKR coupe. If it's not a daily driver and you get a 2000-2002 with the tensioners already handled, it might be worth the savings over a 2003+. But I have put over 6000 miles on my 2003 in 4 months and I love it. I wouldn't hesitate to spend a few $1000 more for a 2003+.
