Prognosis Negative RESOLVED
Ok, maybe it's not as bad as the title sounds.
The victims:
My Jag, the driver (me)
Scenario:
At low speeds, between 0 and 40, at low revs (before around 3.5k revs), I, the driver, plant my foot on the accelerator pedal. For a quick blast of acceleration.
The problem:
As I, the driver, do this, the revs slowly (very slowly) build up, otherwise the car seems to be in a state of suspended animation. The car only picks up about 5 - 10 mph between idle and 3k rpm. Then as the needle climbs past 4 - 5k rpm the car picks up another 5 or so mph. After the car shifts then it suddenly realizes that I, the driver, am gunning it and it begins to pick up considerable speed.
So, if I'm stopped or at low speeds, pressing the pedal 1/2 or 3/4s of the way will yield better acceleration than stepping on it.
At speeds above 50 where the rpms are already between 2.5 and 3.5k, gunning it will not cause such a delayed response. In fact, the car does seem to pick up haste very quickly in those situations.
Culprit: Unknown
Solution: Unknown
Prognosis: Unknown (hopefully not negative)
Jag forum, I beseech of you to unearth the unknowns and help me fix the problem. I ask of you, help me, please. Jag forums, you are my only hope.

I would start with a throttle cable check and adjustment. See https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...estored-38663/

+1 on the throttle adjustment.
Have you tried using the sport mode? If it accelerates normally in sport, then the various computer systems have learned what it thinks is your normal driving style and you are surprising it when you floor it. If this is the case, it will clear as you drive more aggressive, more often. Or you can do a hard reset at the battery and let it relearn your style all over again.
Driving in a mostly urban environment, I have to do this from time to time.

Actually, it happens in both sport mode and non sport mode. I've been driving aggressively these past couple of weeks because I've been enjoying my vacation, hitting the beach and soaking up the sun rays. The car is pretty used to me driving aggressively. I'll check the throttle cable as soon as I can.
About the warp drive switch, the situation is exacerbated when the pedal is mashed past the little warp drive button/switch thing.

Yes, 63% would definitely seem lackluster. Glad you found the problem.
BTW, we just returned from 8 days on your beautiful island...we were in a house just off the water in Rincon. Had a great, great time. Didn't see a single XK8 or XKR between Rincon and San Juan, however...you probably don't see many either!
