Default Radiator Flushing Hampered By Stuck Drain Valve

In a separate thread on overheating my mechanic solved the problem by changing the thermostat as suggested by this great forum.

His next priority was to flush the system due to my knucklehead move of mixing anti-freeze.
But he was having an issue with the radiator drain valve. He was afraid of straining it and breaking it.

He said I should bring it to a place like Jiffy Lube who can tie into the top radiator hose.

Bad Idea? Jiffy Lube? Better suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

The radiator drain is a plastic plug with a cross cut in the head. I can see why he's concerned as it can feel as if it's going to shear when it's been overtightened. I've had them badly chewed up by the time they've come out but never sheared one. If he does decide to go ahead and take it out, you definitely want a new replacement fitted.

If he decides he doesn't want to touch it, removing the upper hose at the radiator and the lower hose at the thermostat elbow will allow the radiator to be reverse flushed with a hosepipe in the end of the bottom hose.

I could be wrong but the name 'Jiffy Lube' tells me all I need to know about not letting them get their hands on a Jaguar.
