Hi All. I've been having battery problems with the XK and after jump starting it this morning I noticed that the LCD isn't working on the radio cassette head but the radio / CD player etc is working fine.
Foolishly I disconnected the battery in anticipation of the new one arriving so now I need to re-enter the code without a screen. I've done it loads of times with the screen but can't remember the exact sequence.
First question: Does it ask for the code as soon as I power it up and do I just press the four numbers one after the other?
Second question: Is it possible to replace the LCD and are they available?

From memory, that's all you need to do.

LCD theoretically could be replaced but not available anywhere, AFAIK.

Is it definitely dud (e.g. gone black) or just not illuminating?

 

Not sure, I'll check it out when the new battery arrives. If it's not illuminating might it be as simple as a duff bulb? Would I be so lucky?

 

Tried it this morning and it accepted the code . The screen is illuminating and it hasn't gone black, just no numbers on it?
